What is BioTE hormone replacement therapy?

BioTE, also known as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, provides your body with natural hormones identical to your own hormones to correct an imbalance and reduce symptoms associated with it. BioTE commonly comes in pellet form.

Your provider inserts a BioTE hormone pellet underneath your skin two to four times each year. Hormones are slowly and steadily released from BioTE pellets to avoid up and down hormone fluctuations, you might experience with other hormone replacement products.

Why do I need BioTE hormone replacement therapy?

You may be an ideal candidate for BioTE if you have symptoms of a hormonal imbalance, no matter how subtle. Symptoms of a hormone imbalance develop gradually, and in some cases, you may become so accustomed to the symptoms and side effects you stop noticing them. 

When your estrogen and progesterone levels start plummeting, you may experience:

BioTE pellet therapy can treat and resolve many — if not all — of your side effects associated with a hormone imbalance. As a bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), BioTE pellets are molecularly similar to your body’s own hormones.

As your body starts absorbing BioTE, symptoms and side effects associated with a hormone imbalance start to improve as your hormones start to stabilize. BioTE can treat and minimize issues associated with minor to severe hormone imbalances.

How long does BioTE hormone replacement therapy last?

BioTE is long-lasting. Most women notice a dramatic improvement in their symptoms for about 3-6 months before BioTE pellets start wearing off. It just depends on the severity of your hormone imbalance and how quickly your body absorbs the BioTE hormones.

Your provider and the team at Above Parr Women’s Center check your hormone levels regularly to see if you’re where you need to be. Once they notice that your hormones are becoming imbalanced, it might be time for another BioTE procedure. You usually need 2-4 treatments per year.

The process of placing BioTE pellets involves making a small incision and implanting the pellets. Your provider can perform BioTE implant procedures with local anesthesia, so you can go home afterward and resume many of your regular activities.
